Taimyr juniors win at northern multi-sport championship

Boys and girls from indigenous communities competed in five events.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The winners of the northern multi-sport championship and competition in the Krasnoyarsk region have been announced. Athletes from five municipalities participated: Kezhem, Taimyr Dolgan-Nenets, Turuhansk, Evenki districts, and Krasnoyarsk.

According to the Agency for the Development of Northern Territories and Support for Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples, the young competitors participated in five events: the triple national jump, axe throwing for distance, stick running over rough terrain, tynzyan throwing onto the horey, and jumping over sleds.

In the overall team standings, the Krasnoyarsk team took first place, followed by the Evenki team in second and the Turuhansk district team in third. In the junior category for ages 16-17, gold went to the Turuhansk district team, silver to Evenkiya, and bronze to Taimyr.

In the junior category for ages 14-15, the Turuhansky district team came in first, Taimyr took second, and Evenkiya finished third.

Additionally, the organizers recognized the outstanding performance of Taimyr athlete Alexander Zdunov.
