#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The bear from Dikson, whose rescue operation took place in early September, will live in the Moscow Zoo, since it is impossible to survive in the wild with his injury. This was told by the zoo director Svetlana Akulova.
According to her, experts from the Skryabin Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology examined the bear and delivered a verdict: despite the fact that the bear is half paralyzed, experts will try to provide him with the most comfortable life. The doctors adjusted the treatment regimen and developed a rehabilitation plan.
With Dikson – as the polar bear was named – they have already begun to conduct veterinary trainings that are aimed at performing certain tasks during rehabilitation.
“One of the trainings is following the goal. The zoologist holds the target at the bear’s nose level – a green tip, the bear reacts to it, touches it with his nose – and gets an apple. So they will develop a reflex in Dikson, so that later they will be able to control him and invite him to the right place”, said Akulova.
The zoo director also said that the bear liked the rabbit the most, and today he had breakfast with pink salmon.
Earlier, This Is Taimyr wrote that artificial intelligence will track the polar bears population. We also reported that polar bears are learning to survive in warmer conditions.
