#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Norilsk Nickel Corporate University hosted an awards ceremony for the Nornickel Charitable Program’s social project competition World of New Opportunities winners.
According to the results of the competition, the company will support 106 socially useful initiatives from Norilsk, Monchegorsk, the Taimyr municipal district, the Pechenga district of the Murmansk region, Chita and the Gazimuro-Zavodsky district of the Trans-Baikal region.
The competition started in September 2022. 153 applications were submitted from Norilsk and Taimyr, 45 Norilsk and 13 Taimyr projects made it to the final. Their grant fund amounted to 154 million rubles.
Among the winners are the Animashki center for the development of children and family leisure, the project and resource office of the indigenous minorities of the North, the Dolgan family tribal community Yydyna, the laboratory of modern media and audiovisual arts, the Polar State University, the Taimyr College of Arts, the Norilsk Medical College and other NGOs, local public organizations, municipal and regional institutions.
The social project competition aimed at supporting public initiatives and creating conditions for sustainable development is an important component of the World of New Opportunities charity program that Nornickel has been implementing since 2014. During this time, 3242 applications were received, of which the company supported 857 projects for a total of 976.5 million rubles.
