#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In the Tungussky nature reserve in the north of the Krasnoyarsk region, the woolly rhinoceros’s skull bone fragments were found – these animals became extinct 8-14 thousand years ago. Tomsk State University scientist Andrey Shpansky, after studying the find, reported that the bone fragments belonged to an adult individual.
The woolly rhinoceros is a herbivorous mammal of the rhinoceros family of the equid order. The animal lived in the territory of modern Asia and Europe, as well as Evenkia. Ancient rhinoceroses looked like modern ones, but were covered with thick, long hair. This helped them survive in the harsh climate of the Arctic. Archaeologists believe that these giants became extinct due to climate change.
Let us remind you that a previously unknown beetle was found near Norilsk.
Previously, scientists created superglue for the Arctic, as well as a new type of fuel from coal and pine cones.
