#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The period of twilight nights has come to an end in Norilsk, and on the night of April 26, was replaced by white nights. At this time, the sun does not drop lower than six degrees below the horizon, resulting in quite light at night.
Today the heavenly body rose over Norilsk at 04:21 am and will set at 21:51. Thus, daylight hours in Norilsk are 17 hours 29 minutes.
At our latitude, the white night will gradually brighten until the sun stops setting below the horizon and the polar day sets in. According to the generally accepted diagram, compiled by the Norilsk ore field discoverer Nikolay Urvantsev, the polar day in Norilsk begins on May 19: at night, for 68 days, instead of street lamps, the city is illuminated by the sun’s rays, and the sky turns into a soft pink canvas.
After the polar night, everything will repeat in the reverse order: on July 25, white nights will come again, on August 15 – twilight, from September 15 there will be a change of day and night, and on November 30 the polar night will come.
