The polar day in Norilsk has lasted for 68 days – from May 19 to July 25. This is the time when the sun makes a circle across the sky without going over the horizon. Today the period of white nights has begun.
At the 69th parallel, it is still sunny at night: while the sun sets shallowly below the horizon and only for an hour a day.
Today, the daylight has lasted for 22 hours 55 minutes. It will gradually decrease, and in August the street lights will be turned on in the evenings. In the meantime, local photographers enjoy the great time to shoot: the golden hour in low sun still lasts a very long time.
The period of white nights at our latitude will last until August 15.
