Water level in Yenisey to be raised

October 07, 2022

Water dropping at the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station is scheduled for October 25.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station will increase water dropping from 8:00 on October 25 by 900 cubic meters per second, and the water level in the Yenisey will rise by a meter. As explained in the Yenisey Basin Water Administration, this is necessary for the cargo ships to return from the North.

Recall that this year, due to the shallowing of the Yenisey, passenger traffic was suspended. The Yenisey River Shipping Company, as well as the Taimyr Fuel Company, have rebuilt logistics.

Experts note that the inflow in September 2022 to the Sayano-Shushenskoye reservoir was only 58 percent of the norm, to the Krasnoyarsk reservoir – 86 percent of the norm. According to experts, in October the inflow will increase to 88 percent, which will make it possible to dump water and return the river fleet to normal operation.

From November 4, the water level in the Yenisey will again drop by 80-100 centimeters. Despite the low water level, cargo is delivered to Norilsk on time.
