#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Twelve schoolchildren, the winners of the Icebreaker of Knowledge scientific and educational project’s fifth season’s qualifying stage, will go to the North Pole in August, the project’s press service reported.
“We’ve selected the best guys who are interested in chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology – natural science disciplines. The competition was not easy for the participants and the jury: only 12 winners had to be selected from several tens of thousands of people. These lucky ones will have a unique opportunity to go to the North Pole on a nuclear icebreaker”, TASS quotes the words of the final jury chairman, deputy general director for personnel of Rosatom state corporation Tatyana Terentyeva.
The winners of the qualifying competition had to go through a difficult path to victory. The first stage was the tournament Knowledge. Game, organized by the Russian organization Znanie, the intellectual partner of the project. Eight teams from federal districts took part in the tournament. At the second stage, the finalist teams presented their homework – they told how nuclear technologies can help the development of the regions they represent.
The teams from the Southern, Siberian, Central and North Caucasus federal districts, each with three children, won.
Together with the 12 finalists, the best representatives of the Rosatom Juniors movement, winners of other competitions and projects, as well as talented guys from Bangladesh, India, China, Hungary, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Mongolia, Cameroon, Tunisia will go to the pole on the expedition and other states. 70 schoolchildren will gather on board the icebreaker.
We previously told you that the participants of the Arctic expedition expect to discover new species of living organisms.
