#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. An ice crossing was opened on Taimyr near the village of Dikson – so far the first one in the region in 2021. Because of the weather, the ice on the rivers has not yet matured, because persistent frosts have recently come even to the North of the region. In 2019, for example, a ferry near Dixon was opened at the end of November.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations urges to wait for the official opening of the remaining crossings and not go to the ice, it is dangerous to life and health. In total, 129 crossings will be opened in winter. In addition, the region is planning to launch 19 winter roads with a total length of 4578 kilometers.
“When entering an ice crossing, it is necessary to comply with the requirements of information signs, not to allow loads exceeding the carrying capacity of the ice. Before driving on the ice, you need to unfasten your seat belts and unlock the doors. It is necessary to leave for the crossing without jerking or braking, at a speed of no more than ten kilometers per hour. It is forbidden to go out on the ice in fog or snowstorm”, rescuers remind the rules for using the crossings.
We also told that the density of roads in Taimyr is 350 times less than the average for Russia.
