The Hydrometeorological center promised an abnormally warm end of summer in Russia. Temperatures above the climatic norm are predicted almost throughout the country until the end of August. The last summer days are expected to be extremely warm in the Urals and the Volga region.
An incredibly hot summer is also observed in the Russian Arctic. At the cold pole of the Northern hemisphere in Verhoyansk in the Saha Republic, the temperature rose to 40 degrees. On Taimyr the temperature was +25 degrees last week. Recently, a new temperature record was observed in the Arctic – 17.8. It is the maximum value for the Severnaya Zemlya archipelago over the past seven years.
The opposite situation is observed in several regions of the country: Magadan region, the center of the Khabarovsk region, Chukotka and Kamchatka. The temperature will be around and below normal there until the end of August, and in the Magadan region, the first frosts are expected in the coming days.
According to the Hydrometeorological center, in the Krasnoyarsk region, including its northern regions, no frost is expected by the end of the month. On Taimyr, at least until August 29, night temperatures will not drop below +7 degrees.
Roshydromet promises +20 … +22 in the daytime, and +10 … +12 at night in Norilsk this week. However, this does not interfere with preparing for the planned heating season: today, August 26, hot water will be turned off in the city for hydraulic tests on heating system.
The winter of 2020 also beat records in the number of warm days: practically throughout the country, the air temperature exceeded the average climatic norm. And in the spring there was the earliest ice drift in the entire history of observations on Taimyr.
