#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Taimyr team became the first in its subgroup at the championship of the Krasnoyarsk region in curling among men’s teams. Dudinka athletes confidently beat all the opponents they met during the days of the competition.
Andrey Zharnikov, the playing coach of the Dudinka team, says that the northerners were in the mood for a good result, but did not expect the first place in the subgroup:
“I think we succeeded due to the fact that we did not allow the opponent to open up completely, we took the initiative.
The most difficult was the meeting with the Fobos team. That game became important both for the guys, since the opponent is very strong, and for me personally, as my first coach plays in the team. At the beginning of the meeting, we made some mistakes, we started to lose, but in the end we equalized the score and won 8:7”.
The team feels excellent, but at the same time, the Dudinka athletes understand that the games will be difficult.
Recall that the Taimyr team participated in such competitions from 2018 to 2020. In 2019, it won a bronze medal.
This year, thanks to the Nornickel company’s support, the team showed up at the regional level. The company also helped the northerners to sew a personalized uniform.
Earlier, This Is Taimyr reported that thanks to Nornickel, the Arctic Curling Cup has been held in Dudinka for six years in a row. The company invests more than four billion rubles a year in social and sports projects.
