#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. On June 24, 1844, the academic printing house published a report by the explorer of the North Alexander Middendorf, in which he first named the peninsula Taimyr.
Now the printing house is called the Nauka publishing house, and today it continues to publish scientific articles based on the results of field research in Taimyr. Nikolay Fedoseyenkov, director of the publishing house, told the This Is Taimyr Telegraph about this. On behalf of the government of the Russian Federation, today the Nauka publishing house is preparing for the publication of more than 140 major scientific and popular science journals of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
“According to data for 2023 collected by our scientometric division, Taimyr is mentioned in more than 140 publications of Russian scientists in journals of the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC). This suggests that Taimyr is one of the most researched Russian territories”, said the Nauka publishing house’s director.
Nikolay Fedoseyenkov connects such scientific interest in our region not only with its rich mineral resources, but also with the fact that representatives of five indigenous peoples live in Taimyr, including the northernmost people in the world – the Nganasans, as well as the youngest people in the world – the Dolgans.
Any successful scientific research necessarily ends with the publication of articles in scientific journals or the publication of scientific books – monographs. The main scientific events are necessarily included in the statistics of the oldest publishing house in Russia, Nauka.
