#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The first birthday of the female musk ox Alana was celebrated at Royev Rouchey. She was rescued a year ago in Taimyr.
After the calf was delivered to the Krasnoyarsk zoo, the staff fed Alana with special milk for ungulates – in certain proportions and at the right temperature. They fed her six times a day – both day and night. Musk oxen are very social animals, they need communication, so Alana was given a friend – the Cameroonian goat Peka.
Now Alana is completely different from the hungry newborn cub who was found near her dead mother. In the spring, the female was put into an open enclosure where visitors can see her. Although she is already quite big, Alana still loves to play ball, communicate and hug with keepers.
