The new product will effectively replace similar imported equipment.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Specialists from the St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University LETI have created a device that allows them to track the movements of water transport in various types of water areas – from inland seas to the Arctic. This was reported by the institution’s press service.

“We have developed a marine information system – this is a hardware and software complex for simultaneous monitoring of vessels of various types in the same water area. It collects and analyzes various types of data both from on-board automatic information systems and from a network of navigation radar stations, providing the operator in real time with a complete picture of what is happening”, said the director of the Research Institute of Emergency Forecasting and Monitoring Systems of St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University LETI Vladimir Veremyev.

According to him, signal processing is carried out automatically using a digital processor and appropriate software developed by LETI scientists, after which all information is sent to the operator’s automated workstation.

“Such an integrated system can be implemented in a monitoring center of any water area, from inland seas to the Arctic zone. Our development is aimed at ensuring technological sovereignty in the field of maritime navigation, since it allows us to effectively replace similar imported equipment, the manufacturers of which have left the Russian market”, explained Evgeniy Vorobyov, senior researcher at the Prognoz Research Institute of St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University LETI.

Currently, LETI scientists are negotiating with industrial partners and domestic companies that supply equipment for marine navigation.
