#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In Russia, it is necessary to create a system of higher and secondary specialized educational institutions with narrow-profile programs to train specialists required for the development of the Arctic. This opinion was expressed by doctor of economics, professor of the Higher School of Production Management at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University Alexey Fadeyev.
“Today, the Arctic needs tens of thousands of additional qualified specialists per year. For successful development of the Arctic, it is necessary to create a system of universities and other secondary and higher educational institutions capable of producing the required number of specialists, including bachelors and masters, for the long term”, Fadeyev told TASS.
He believes that specialists with narrow profiles are needed, who would be trained specifically for Arctic projects.
“These are specialists in drilling wells at sea, the development of offshore fields, their development and operation, specialists in the maritime transport of hydrocarbons, the construction and operation of offshore structures and structures for the liquefaction of natural gas and the storage of hydrocarbons and their products, and others”, the expert noted.
He emphasized that this is not only about specialists with higher education. For the development of the Arctic, navigators, drillers, builders, highly qualified welders, ship repairmen, special equipment operators, electricians, dump truck drivers and others are also required.
“We need experts, candidates and doctors of science who will train future specialists for the development of the Arctic. In other words, we first need to train teachers who are capable of training highly qualified personnel”, concluded Fadeyev.
