#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. More than 10 thousand tons of garbage are planned to be removed from the territory of the Snezhnogorsk village and the Hantayka river banks over the summer. Nornickel adopted a program to preserve nature and reduce the level of anthropogenic pressure on the natural environment of the northern territories.
Within two years, Snezhnogorsk, the Ust-Hantayskaya hydroelectric power station, the banks of the Hantayka and the reservoir will be cleared of the dilapidated building’s remains, concrete piles, fittings, and ownerless river vessels.
This year, they plan to remove about 10 thousand tons of such waste. Contractors are now dismantling eight emergency facilities.
The barges of the Yenisey River Shipping Company have already removed about five thousand tons of trash. About two thousand tons of garbage and four thousand tons of metal have been prepared and are awaiting shipment. The cargo will be delivered to Krasnoyarsk, where it will be processed.
Snezhnogorsk is planned to be cleaned until 2024. This year, Nornickel will allocate 130 million rubles for these purposes; in 2022, it plans to allocate another 200 million.
