#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. By the end of summer, the Yenisey and the rivers of the Ob-Irtysh basin will be replenished with juveniles of muksun and Siberian sturgeon. The Norilsktransgaz enterprise as part of an environmental project to replenish aquatic biological resources will produce the fry.
The sturgeon fry is planned to release in August. 44 479 individuals will replenish the population.
“The technology of artificial reproduction of Siberian sturgeon includes several stages: from May to June, hormonal stimulation of the producers takes place at the Norilsk fish hatchery, and fertilized eggs are obtained. June-July is the incubation period. In July-August, larvae hatch from the eggs. After they grow up, they are transferred to food, first with live, and then with dry food. And by August, the grown sturgeon fry will be ready to move to a new habitat – to the Yenisei River”, said Norilsktransgaz representatives.
The technology of obtaining, growing and releasing juveniles of muksun also has its own peculiarities.
In July-August, after all the necessary procedures, with floodwaters, juveniles enter their habitat. This year in the rivers of the Ob-Irtysh basin, on the territory of Ugra, there will be 2290 muksun specimens.
As a reminder, the environmental policy of Norilsktransgaz is aimed at minimizing the possible negative impact on the environment. In addition, the preservation and replenishment of aquatic biological resources is one of the significant measures to improve the ecological situation in the territory of the enterprise.
