Siberian scientist told about powerful solar flares

One of the clouds of hot plasma provoked a solar storm.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Earth is experiencing one of the strongest magnetic storms in the last decade. Over three weeks, the planet was hit by 21 flares, 12 of which were of the highest X-ray class. At the same time, four clouds of hot plasma are heading towards the Earth. One of them provoked a solar storm.

“Since some emissions are still on their way, they will add charged particles to the magnetosphere of our planet, the storm will intensify and could potentially turn out to be the most powerful in several decades”, noted Sergey Yazev, head of the Irkutsk State University’s astronomical observatory, in a conversation with IrkutskMedia news agency.

However, new emissions of solar plasma are not expected – now the star is in a position where the generation of emissions is far from the line connecting the Sun and our planet. New flares will also no longer affect the Earth. Because of the storm, the Internet slowed down, mobile communications failed, and cable TV was disconnected.

Let us remind you that during magnetic storms you can observe the most beautiful auroras.
