#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Entrepreneurs from the Krasnoyarsk region presented wild plants, agricultural products and cosmetics at the largest exhibition in the United Arab Emirates. The products were highly appreciated by the participants and visitors of the event.
The Organic&Natural Products Expo has been running for 20 years. This is one of the largest platforms in the Middle East for wholesalers and exporters, where the business community presents its products, discusses market trends for organic and natural products.
At the collective stand from the Krasnoyarsk region, under the single brand Siberia Organic, products with a Siberian flavor were presented: varieties of honey, pureed berries, jam and confiture, natural oils, mushrooms, cosmetics made from natural ingredients, herbal teas and others – more than 120 items in total.
In ten months of 2022, wild harvesters earned about 25 million rubles: about 360 tons of berries, mushrooms, nuts and herbs were harvested and processed, more than a thousand permanent and seasonal jobs were created.
Products, including processed ones, are sold through branded stores at procurement centers, as well as delivered to regional retail chains, shipped to the Kemerovo, Moscow, Vologda and Kaluga regions.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the Krasnoyarsk region entered the top 10 regions of the country in terms of the purchase and processing capacity of wild raw materials. Thus, our region took the third place in berries, the first in mushrooms, and the second in nuts.
Three million tons of various wild plants are grown in the region. About 1.5 million tons of products per year can be harvested without damage to the Siberian taiga, including about 640 thousand tons of berries, about 450 thousand tons of mushrooms, more than 136 thousand tons of nuts and over 55 thousand tons of herbs.
It should be noted that the entrepreneurs’ trip abroad was organized with the support of the regional center My Business within the national projects Small and Medium Enterprises and International Cooperation and Export.
Previously, This Is Taimyr reported that a new Red Book of Plants and Animals had been published in the Krasnoyarsk region – essays on 152 rare animal species and 647 species of plants and fungi were placed in two volumes. A wellness center is being created in Dudinka, using the reindeer antlers’ power – a source of longevity and health. Things with an arctic character are a good gift for the New Year – an exhibition of products from the SEVER collection will be held on December 25 at the Norilsk Development Agency.
