Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District, Yury Trutnev, instructed the Ministry of Science and Higher Education to develop a project to finance the construction of the Snezhinka (Snowflake) international Arctic station. This became known at the meeting of the Arctic Development State Commission Presidium.
Nikolay Kudryavtsev, the rector of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, reported to Trutnev that the creation of the international Arctic station was unanimously supported by all Arctic countries.
“This will be the world’s first completely carbon-free Arctic complex, where it is planned to use only hydrogen energy technologies and renewable energy sources. We focus our agenda not on the discussion of climate change problems, but on the practical implementation of green energy technologies. We stake on the synergy of technologies under one ‘roof’: energy, communications, transport, medicine, agricultural cultivation, hydrometeorology and climate, environmental protection and more”, said Kudryavtsev.
May we remind you that on July 13 the President of Russia signed a package of federal laws on the system of preferences in the Arctic. It includes the Federal Law On State Support for Entrepreneurship in the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation and amendments to the Tax Code. The law came into force two days ago.
