#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Researchers at the Arctic Research Center are working to create a dynamic map of the permafrost state in the.

As the Yamalo-Nenets autonomous district’s Department of Natural Resources reports in its telegram channel, the map will provide prompt access to the permafrost state data and the soils main characteristics.

“It will reflect not only information for the current year, but also a forecast for a period of up to 50 years. Data will be loaded into the map from specialized sensors installed throughout the district – currently there are 71 of them”, the message says.

First of all, the information will be in demand by builders, research institutes and educational institutions. The project will allow monitoring the objects condition, and will also help develop technologies and materials for the construction of buildings and roads. In this case, the map will be publicly available.

We previously reported that Nornickel will help predict the permafrost behavior in the Arctic, the company is preparing to create permafrost test sites.
