#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Russian Geographical Society (RGS) is accepting applications for participation in the Arctic Floating University expedition. Scientists, graduate students and students whose research interests are focused on the Arctic region, as well as journalists and bloggers are invited to participate.
In 2024, the expedition will take place from June 25 to July 16.
The main scientific directions of the expedition: study of the hydrometeorological regime of the Arctic ocean’s seas; study of transit transfers of pollutants into the Arctic ocean’s seas; monitoring of the environment state in areas of active economic activity in the marine and coastal zones of the White and Barents seas; biodiversity of the Arctic and Subarctic and others.
The Russian Geographical Society explained that applicants for participation in the Arctic Floating University expedition should meet certain requirements and have no medical contraindications.
Requirements for scientists, graduate students and students: no academic debt; conducting research work on Arctic topics; the scientific supervisor’s recommendation; scientific publications (for students in bachelor’s, specialist, and master’s programs – at least one publication, for students in postgraduate programs – at least two publications); compliance of the training or specialization area with the expedition research program’s directions.
Requirements for journalists and bloggers: links to social networks; photo/video works and articles.
The organizers will provide the three winners of the competitive selection with accommodation on board the ship, four meals a day, an educational program, disembarkation, and the use of laboratories on board during the expedition.
Applications for participation in the competitive selection will be accepted until April 5, 2024 (inclusive). Information about the competition results will appear on the Russian Geographical Society website no later than April 26.
