Rosatom developes Smart Arctic project

January 11, 2021

The initiative will improve all management and business processes in the Far North.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Smart Arctic will unite all available information resources into a single portal, from those that monitor ice conditions to production processes.

The possibility of building new nuclear icebreakers of project 22220 is also being discussed.

Last year, Artic – the ship of this project – entered service, and four more nuclear-powered ships of this series are being built in St. Petersburg – Siberia, Ural, Chukotka and Yakutia.

The state corporation, the infrastructure operator of the Northern Sea Route, plans to increase the order, since the volume of traffic on this route is growing.

Rosatom also hopes that this year the Russian government will decide on the construction of a series of floating nuclear power plants, which may eventually become one of the corporation’s export projects.
