Polar State University preparing for scientific forum

The International Arctic Conference 8+ will be held at ZSU in April.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The purpose of the forum is to form an international interdisciplinary platform for discussing and solving a wide range of issues related to the Arctic region and strengthening educational and scientific ties between generations of scientists.

This year, the 8+ International Conference at ZSU is dedicated to Russia’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council. The forum program includes presentations of promising Russian and international Arctic research and projects.

Not only scientists, university teachers, but also schoolchildren, students, public and political figures are invited to participate in the conference. A prerequisite is the publication of an article on the subject of reports in scientific and practical journals Culture. The science. Production (member of the editorial board Lars Kullerud – president of the Arctic University) and Arctic Scientific Bulletin.

In 2021, eight scientific platforms at ZSU brought together more than three hundred participants from Russia and abroad. The topic of discussion was the strategic objectives of the Arctic development with a focus on information technology, the study of permafrost, mining, health protection and environmental research.

Besides Russia, last year’s conference was attended by Finland (University of Helsinki), the United States of America (Academy for Mathematics, Science and Engineering), Great Britain (Scott Polar Research Institute, University of Cambridge).

Norilsk was represented by ZSU named after. N.V. Fedorovsky (formerly the Norilsk State Industrial Institute), Research Institute of Agriculture and Ecology of the Arctic, Krasnoyarsk Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Siberian Branch, Taimyr Reserves directorate and 11 other educational and scientific institutions and organizations from different cities of Russia.

Together with ZSU rector Dmitry Dubrov, the conference-2021 was welcomed by UArctic president Lars Kullerud and UArctic Assembly chairwoman Liisa Holmberg.

ZSU expects to expand the geography and number of participants of the International Arctic Conference 8+ in 2022. Both famous and young. At one of the sites, supported by the Scientific Society of Young Scientists, it is proposed to discuss the problems, prospects and living conditions of the Arctic youth.

The conference will be held within the walls of the northernmost university on April 21-22.

As a reminder, ZSU entered the ranking of the best universities in the Krasnoyarsk region.
