Polar night in Norilsk is over

January 13, 2021

Residents of the northern city have been waiting for this for a month and a half.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. It’s finished! After six weeks of solid night, Norilsk is ready to see the sun again. No matter it’s just for a little while, but the very fact that the polar night is over is incredibly pleasing.

The polar night has officially ended today. The period of day and night change has come. It will run until March 27. During this time, the day length will gradually increase, and the night will become shorter. Then the so-called twilight nights will begin, and then, from April 26, they will be changed by white nights and the polar day afterwards.

In the meantime, the first reflections of the sun appeared over the horizon for only a few minutes. It will be possible to see the luminary more or less fully in February. And the first lucky ones will be the residents of Talnah.

To help the body ‘get out of the twilight’, experts advise eating more vitamins, being outdoors more often, sleeping for at least eight hours and playing sports.
