#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. A new residential building has been commissioned in the Taimyr village of Nosok. It was built as part of the program to improve the housing conditions of reindeer herders and hunters in Krasnoyarsk region, according to the region’s official portal.
A family of reindeer herders from Taimyr is already settling into their new house. It has two rooms, a kitchen and a veranda, the living area is more than 50 square meters. The house is heated with a stove. Let us recall that the construction of houses for reindeer herders is carried out at the expense of the regional budget.
“The housing support program for reindeer herders and hunters has been in effect since 2011. During this period, 254 northern families have been provided with housing. Let me remind you that representatives of indigenous peoples of the North who lead a traditional way of life, need housing, are on the waiting list to receive it, and also have a land plot on the right of ownership, lease or gratuitous use can count on support in the form of payments for the houses construction”, explained Anton Narchuganov, the Krasnoyarsk region’s Northern Territories Development and Indigenous Peoples Support Agency’s head.
Representatives of indigenous peoples of the North who lead a traditional way of life receive social payments for the construction of houses. The amount of one payment varies depending on the territory where the housing is being built and ranges from 6.5 to 10.1 million rubles.
In total, 17 houses were built under the program in 2024 for representatives of indigenous peoples living in Taimyr, Evenkia and the Turuhansk district. Residential buildings were erected in the villages of Volochanka, Popigai, Nosok, Kresty, Mutorai, Ekonda, Chirinda, Uchami and Sovetskaya Rechka.
Earlier, we reported that state support for the indigenous peoples of Krasnoyarsk would be increased from 2025.
