#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Deputy prime minister Alexander Novak held a meeting on the development of the Northern Sea Route (NSR) until 2035.
Representatives of relevant departments, shippers, and Rosatom State Corporation discussed ensuring safe navigation during winter-spring navigation, cargo turnover indicators, the construction of icebreakers, the results of the implementation of the Northern Sea Route development plan last year, as well as the main tasks for 2023.
Alexander Novak said that in the context of changing logistics, redirecting exports to friendly countries, including the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, the NSR transport corridor is of particular importance: “Its development is a strategic issue”.
Recall that scientists predict a difficult ice situation in certain sections of the NSR in the warm season of 2023, Nornickel has become one of the leaders in terms of growing cargo traffic, the port of Dudinka will be used to deliver coal through the NSR to Asia.
Also, one of the largest cargo carriers is launching delivery to Norilsk via the Northern Sea Route. In addition, after modernization, the diesel-powered icebreakers Capitan Dranitsyn and Kapitan Hlebnikov will carry tourists along the NSR.
