#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The beginning of the Russian development of the Northern Sea Route will be 500 years old. By the anniversary in 2025, the country plans to launch the international cultural and educational project The Great Northern Expedition: The Arctic as Art, said Rustam Romanenkov, general director of the ANO Arctic Initiatives Center.
In an interview with the TASS agency, he said that the project will begin with a regional stage, which will cover the Arctic regions of the country from Murmansk to Vladivostok. At this stage, the project will hold open competitions for artists and creative youth, in each region they will choose the best performance, the best museum exhibit and the best urban design reflecting the history and identity of the North. A special program for children and teenagers will include various school events, theatrical performances, and even themed shifts in the Artek and Orlyonok children’s camps.
In addition, as part of the project, a creative Arctic expedition on the icebreaker 50 Years of Victory to the North Pole will take place in the summer of 2025, and in the final, from September 2025 to March 2026, an exhibition dedicated to the development of the Arctic will be held in Moscow.
