#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The scouts of the Northern Fleet marines will conduct lessons on the management of reindeer and dog sleds – the traditional transport of the indigenous peoples of the Far North.
Such exercises the marines will undergo for the first time. Earlier, the scouts of the Arctic motorized rifle brigade of the Northern Fleet learned how to manage reindeer and dog sleds.
“The event will take place in the village of Lovozero, Murmansk region. In the area of the Lovozero tundra, the marines undergo a field training session, during which they learn how to survive in the natural conditions of the Far North and the Arctic. Reindeer and dog sled driving lessons will become one of the elements of training the Northern Fleet Marine Corps scouts”, the statement says.
Note that the Northern Fleet regularly conducts exercises in Taimyr. Last fall, ships of the Northern Fleet’s Arctic group worked in the Kara sea to replenish fuel and water supplies from a tanker on the move in the Arctic. In August 2020, the Northern Fleet held an industrial defense exercise near Norilsk.
The nearest plans of the Northern Fleet are to conduct an interesting expedition in the Barents and Kara seas. In addition, the auxiliary vessels of the fleet will take part in historical experiments on Novaya Zemlya along the routes of Rozmyslov, Litke, Pakhtusov, Rusanov and Samoilovich.
