By the end of 2021, 153 socially significant objects in the Arctic zone will be connected to the Internet. Nikolay Raspopin, minister of Digital Development of the Krasnoyarsk region, spoke about this at the Communication in the Russian North – 2020 All-Russian conference.
The work will be carried out within the framework of the Digital Economy of the Russian Federation national project and the Development of the Information Society regional state program.
“72 settlements of the 1743 regional ones are in the Arctic. Of course, the development of this territory is impossible without the communications infrastructure. We are solving this problem through the implementation of federal and regional programs”, Nikolay Raspopin noted.
Recall that since the beginning of 2020, 31 institutions have been connected to the World Wide Web. Funds were directed from the regional treasury for the development of cellular communications and the Internet to the villages of Ust-Avam in Taimyr and Essey in Evenkia. Earlier, free Internet access points were launched in the Taimyr villages of Popigai and Vorontsovo.
