#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The competitions will be held in 73 different areas – from journalism to artificial intelligence. The Nornickel company has joined the list of general partners of the contest – the company will support the Mining area together with the St. Petersburg Mining University.
“Today the sixth season of the I am a Professional contest starts. This is a serious achievement, which shows that the project is stable, that it has won the trust of partners and students from all over the country. In 2021-2022, students of Russian universities submitted more than 624 000 applications for participation in the competition. And in just five years, more than 2.693 million such applications have been received. This is an impressive figure”, said Sergey Kiriyenko, the presidential administration’s first deputy head, the I am a Professional student skills competition organizers’ association council’s head.
Recall that the I am a Professional event is one of the flagship projects of the presidential platform Russia is a Country of Opportunities. The project is implemented with the support of the Russian Federation Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The organization of the competition includes more than 500 leading Russian companies that offer participants cases for solutions. Among them, there are Nornickel, Sberbank, Pipe Metallurgical Company, VTB Bank, Rosatom State Corporation, Gazprombank, Polyus, Russian Agricultural Bank, Russian Railways, Yandex and others.
This year, the contest will have a record number of areas – 73. New areas support import substitution, the state technological sovereignty and the development of breakthrough technologies for the Russian economy. They are Economic Security, Creative Industries, Regional Development and Urban Studies, Carbon Regulation, Innovation, Food Industry, Sports Coach and Fitness Industry. The number of organizing universities this year is 33.
“I am sure that the partnership of the I am a Professional contest, the Knowledge society and universities with enterprises that offer participants their cases will be successful. We see a noticeable interest in the project and a constant increase in the number of participants, employers and educational areas. We expect that the ideas of the participants in solving the Nornickel ‘s case will turn out to be even more breakthrough and bold than those that are currently used in the company”, said Larisa Zelkova, Nornickel’s senior vice president.
The contest’s sixth season diploma winners will be determined in May 2023. Depending on the points scored, they will be divided into prize-winners, winners and medalists. All graduates will receive prizes: benefits for admission to master’s, postgraduate and residency programs at leading Russian universities and the opportunity to do an internship in a large specialized company. The strongest participants – bronze, silver and gold medalists – will also receive cash prizes from 100 to 300 thousand rubles.
