#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In Norilsk, the School of High Latitudes named after twice of socialist labor hero, the Great Patriotic War veteran, the Norilsk combine former head Vladimir Dolgih construction began at the expense of Nornickel. The Nornickel president Vladimir Potanin, together with the Norilsk mayor Dmitry Karasev, laid the foundation stone for the future lyceum on 50 Let Octyabrya street.
The multidisciplinary innovative educational complex is designed for 1100 places. The school will house 44 classrooms, 28 co-working spaces, several workshops and laboratories with modern equipment. The sports block will consist of a multifunctional hall with mobile partitions, a choreographic and gym room, a shooting range and a 25-meter swimming pool. An assembly hall, a library center and recreation are also provided.
At the school, children will be able to get the opportunity to reveal their talents, and teachers – to improve their professional potential. It will not be just an educational institution, the project is part of the Norilsk transformation program. The city will have new public spaces for innovative, creative and sports activities. The training will use the best educational centers’ practices in the country. This will allow rethinking the education system not only in Norilsk, but throughout the Russian Arctic.
Full-scale construction here will begin next year. In 2025, the lyceum should start working.
