Handing over the keys took place in Norilsk

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. As part of the program to promote the Taimyr social and economic development, the Norilsk Nickel company representatives handed over the keys to five apartments to orphans from among the indigenous peoples of the North. The program has been implemented since 2020 and is designed for five years.

“We continue the good tradition of supporting the North indigenous peoples youth. Today we have another keys delivery to Taimyr peoples representatives. You have your own road ahead of you, and I think the company is giving you a head start by providing housing. Our support program has been running for the third year so far, and during this time 15 people have become happy owners of renovated modern apartments,” Nikolay Utkin, senior vice president, the Nornickel Norilsk division head, said in his welcoming speech.

The children were also given personalized certificates for the household appliances purchase.

“The provision of equipment for young owners is being implemented so that they do not rack their brains over the question of how to furnish housing, but pay more attention to themselves and their development. Remember that Norilsk Nickel is interested in young and energetic employees, so we are always glad to see you in our ranks”, said Nikolay Utkin.

The new real estate in Dudinka owners shared their emotions.

“I am 20 years old, I have lived all my life in the Potapovo village. I am overwhelmed with emotions and happy that I will soon drop into a new apartment with my girlfriend, with whom I plan to start a family! It is also nice to receive a bonus from the company – a certificate for the household appliances purchase, because you can immediately furnish an apartment and not think about where to get the money to create comfort. I thank Norilsk Nickel very much for care and attention!” – thanked Denis Zuykov.

The company pays great attention to the indigenous ethnic groups support and development. At meetings, the Nornickel management and North indigenous peoples representatives discuss and resolve issues for the successful territory development and the population livelihoods.

As part of numerous programs developed by Norilsk Nickel, houses, rural houses of culture are being built in the Taimyr villages, schools are provided with access to a stable Internet, and student education is subsidized.

The company is also working hard to preserve the indigenous peoples heritage: folklore festivals, master classes in choreography, arts and crafts are held, books on the history and culture are published, and traditional economic activity types are being developed.

Earlier it became known that Norilsk Nickel increased its support for the Taimyr indigenous peoples, the company allocated 11 grants this year as part of the Taimyr World competition.

With the participation of Norilsk Nickel, a pantotherapy center and an Arctic fox farm will be opened in Dudinka, as well as three medical and obstetric stations will be built.
