#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In September 2023, the guys took part in two significant events in their respective areas. Young Norilsk residents attended the Siberian Perspective sustainable development summit in the Quantorium technology park in Krasnoyarsk and the international competition for young inventors in Indonesia. The finalists and winners of the IMAKE project spoke about their successes and impressions on the business trips.
In Krasnoyarsk, our team got acquainted with trends and successful project cases, and attended a presentation of environmental inventions and prototypes of the IMAKE program. The schoolchildren got acquainted with the work of the Quantorium technology park, took part in volunteer work in the Krasnoyarskiye Stolby national park and the Bobrovy Log fun park.
The Nornickel’s IMAKE engineering marathon project’s participants went to the Indonesian island of Bali to show their inventions to the whole world.
One of the most long-awaited was participation in the project of the international platform International Young Inventors Award, where inventors and scientists from different countries present their developments and innovations at the international level.
For example, Ernest Kashapov from Norilsk did not immediately manage to reach the finals of the marathon and become a participant in the IMAKE trip, but he did not give up and returned to the project again. Ernest developed a jacket with an energy generator to generate electricity from body heat, with which he went to the INHUB Innovation and Productivity Week, and for an international competition in Indonesia he created a scarf with a valve to drain condensation. For these inventions, Ernest Kashapov got a silver medal at IYIA 2023.
“I and some of my peers got into the IMAKE engineering marathon almost by accident, but the spirit of invention and the support of our mentors completely captured us. The ideas for both developments were suggested to me by Norilsk weather conditions. I came up with another scarf prototype for South Asian countries as well”, the young man shared.
After returning from their trips, the young inventors met with Nornickel representatives and shared their impressions. When asked what IMAKE means to them, almost everyone answered that it is now their family. Even different levels of language proficiency at the exhibition did not become an obstacle for like-minded people. Representatives of seven countries easily found a common language – schoolchildren discussed their inventions with peers, exchanged ideas and contacts. In addition, the makers attended a seminar on patenting.
Let us remind you that the IMAKE engineering marathon grew out of the IMAKE inventive project competition and incorporated the concept of the ArcticPRO scientific and technical marathon project.
