#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The schoolboy from Norilsk Ernest Kashapov, together with friends, actively promoted the project to teach elderly the active use of digital services – a computer and a smartphone. As a result, the guy has won the grant of the Nornickel charitable program The World of New Opportunities.
The Digital Equality project on the training of older people in the IT-Kube Norilsk center began to be implemented in 2021. In two streams, 45 senior norilsk residents were trained.
Schoolchildren in the project are mentors and help the elderly deal with applications for paying utilities, calling a taxi, using the State Services platform and other digital services necessary in the modern world.
Ernest, who had previously been engaged in the center in the Python programming, became one of the mentors and showed a serious approach: he prepared for the lessons, made a plan, presentation, was attentive to details in the classroom, and added new topics the students’ request.
Together with his mentor Anastasia Gnatyuk, the schoolboy decided to develop the Digital Equality project to a permanent course, expand the base of people who would visit it, and then reach the regional level.
The grant – 100 thousand rubles – will allow him to purchase several necessary gadgets and organize training. The organizers plan to train more people, and 20 participants in the project want to continue their studies and master even more capabilities of computers and smartphones.
“I want it to be possible not only in Norilsk, but throughout the Krasnoyarsk region. This is a very urgent problem: technology develops rapidly, and older people often do not catch them”, says Ernest Kashapov.
The IT-Kube center’s teachers believe that one of the success secrets is the student’s enthusiasm and activity. He takes part in a variety of events, and this brings results: Ernest won the IMAKE engineering marathon and received a bronze medal at the In’Hub International Forum for his project Jacket with Electricity Generator.
