#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In this match, the Norilsk team repeated the best difference in goals scored/missed in the game for the third time. The first two cases were in the last season.
The opponent was in last place at the game start, although you can’t underestimate the opponent: the two previous meetings were scored by Izhstal. Already in the fourth minute of the current game, the Bears’ fans sighed in disappointment: the Norilsk team missed a goal scored by the Izhevsk team in the majority. A little more than ten minutes later, Ilya Nazarov (Izhstal) violated the rules, and the Norilsk team was left in the majority. But instead of equalizing the score, they got a second goal. The situation was puzzling – 0:2 by the middle of the first period. However, this was the last goal of the Izhevsk team until the middle of the third period.
The Norilsk team rushed into attack and quickly repelled the first goal, doing it in the majority: Oleg Popov scored his third goal of the season. Soon the guests were in the minority for the third time in the period and in one minute they received two goals at once: from Nikita Makeyev and Artem Antipov. With the score 3:2 in favor of Norilsk, the teams went to the break.
The second period in the game was the most productive for the Norilsk team, they started scoring almost from the start. In the fourth minute, within 22 seconds, Danila Dyadenkin first had his say, and then Artem Antipov scored a double. After the fifth missed goal, the coaching staff of Izhstal replaced the goalie, setting Vladimir Mosin instead of Victor Sharapov. But Mosin kept ‘dry’ until the guests’ first removal. Vladislav Kaletnik scored for the hosts, converting the fourth of four moments in the Norilsk majority – 6:2. It must be said that in terms of penalties, Izhstal left HC Norilsk far behind in the entire match, having accumulated 20 minutes in the penalty box against eight 8 the hosts.
In the third period, the opponents exchanged goals within a minute: the total number of goals reached ten. But the Norilsk team managed to put a beautiful end to the match: Artem Antipov made a pass to Vladislav Kartayev, who was skating behind, and he was accurate. The result was 8:3 with the first victory of HC Norilsk over Izhstal.
After the game, Nikita Kolesnikov, the HC Norilsk’s forward, noted that the match outcome was determined by the game in unequal compositions:
“Today we played well in the majority, scored five goals. Although the beginning of the game was tense. We conceded two goals due to our mistakes, but it didn’t throw us off track. We got going pretty quickly and tied the score with good actions during the power play. The win in the last match against Toros gave us a good boost. The confidence that we lost a little on the road returned. A tough match with a serious opponent, Perm’s Molot, is ahead. We are expecting our fans in the stands. We really need their support”.
HC Norilsk’s head coach Vladimir Gusev also noted that they started well, not taking into account, of course, the two goals they missed. He added that during the break between games, the team worked a lot on uneven lineups, as well as on getting the puck to the goal – hence more than 90 shots per game, including 60 on target. There is still work to be done on the misses during the playing in majority.
The next game of the home series will be on November 7 with Perm’s Molot, which is in 21st place in the table with 24 points. HC Norilsk rose to fourth place with 31 points after 24 games, while having the highest number of goals scored.
