#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Almaz central marine design bureau of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) presented a series of new developments of ice-class vessels for the Northern Sea Route at the Maritime Congress – Far East, the company’s press service reports.
The United Shipbuilding Corporation is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. The holding includes more than 40 enterprises and organizations in the industry, major shipbuilding and ship repair plants, leading design bureaus. Currently, most of the domestic shipbuilding complex is consolidated on the basis of USC.
The project concept includes the possibility of constructing chemical tankers, bulk carriers and general cargo vessels. One of the presented projects is a self-propelled cargo ship with an increased ice class (Arc5) with an open cargo deck for operation in the Arctic region. The vessel will significantly simplify the task of crossing from the European part of the country to the Far East and will protect the crew and cargo from possible dangers along the way.
Working on a series of specialized transport and oceanographic research vessels, the Almaz design bureau has laid down a modernization potential that will allow the implementation of new projects of sea rescue tugs and vessels for underwater technical work with a wide range of tasks. The vessels are endowed with an autonomy of 50 days and a cruising range of six thousand nautical miles.
