#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The wheeled all-terrain vehicle of the Clean Arctic – Vostok-77 expedition, which is currently being tested in the Yamalo-Nenets autonomous district, may be named in honor of one of the indigenous peoples of the Far North – Chukchi or Sami. Tatyana Zikunkova, head of the all-terrain vehicle testing group, reported this to TASS.
A new line of all-terrain vehicles for the North, Siberia and the Far East based on UAZ SUVs is planned to be used to cover long distances in difficult terrain at extreme negative temperatures – minus 40–50 degrees.
The expedition is currently testing units, heating systems and cabin insulation.
“One of the important innovations of the vehicles tested during the expedition is the life support system for the crew and passengers: a progressive cabin insulation system, duplicated heating and ventilation devices, a fundamentally new design of the car body”, said Leonid Stern, the International Shuhov Foundation’s president.
Let us remind you that Clean Arctic – Vostok-77 is the largest in terms of the number of participants among continental high-latitude scientific expeditions in the entire history of Northern research. Scientists will conduct over 200 studies along routes stretching 12 thousand kilometers. One of the expedition’s objectives will be the rare northern languages study and preservation.
