#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The baby, found near her dead mother, was brought from Hatanga to the Krasnoyarsk flora and fauna park Royev Rouchey last spring. Today she already looks like an adult musk ox.
At the end of April, the female musk ox rescued from death, named Alana, will turn one year old. With the beginning of winter, Alana was moved to a separate enclosure, and now she can be seen in the park on the ungulate alley.
On the eve of World Wildlife Day, which is celebrated on March 3, information about the favorite of park visitors appeared on the Royev Rouchey Telegram channel.
“Alana has grown up and already looks like an adult musk ox. She is still playful and loves hugging zoologist Evgenia, although her hugging is becoming dangerous – the girl has grown up quite a bit,” the post says.
The information is accompanied by a video in which Alana rolls a large yellow ball and demands that her adoptive mother Evgenia Volkova stroke and hug her. It is known that the orphan, who weighed 18 kilograms and had not tasted her mother’s milk, has gained more than 100 kilograms and overwintered well, but without Pepa. The Cameroon goat, which kept Alana company at first, was moved to a warm enclosure for the winter. Alana’s new neighbors on the sites were female deer and an adult female musk ox.
Today, the process of musk oxen resettlement in Russia in general and in Taimyr in particular is far from complete, but the Musk Ox.RF project coordinator, the Arctic Development Project Office’s expert Igor Mishukov thinks that Arctic musk ox breeding has prospects.
Earlier, Taimyr Telegraph wrote that Alana playfully butts zoologists.
