More than 50 below zero expected in Norilsk

December 22, 2020

It will be coldest in Talnah, which stands on a hill.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Frosty weather will continue in Norilsk in the coming days. Today Norilsk residents received an SMS notification from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which says that on December 23–25, in the south of the Taimyr municipal district, they forecast a temperature of –45 … –50 degrees.

Local forecasters explain that such weather is expected in other territories of Taimyr too. In Norilsk it will be, albeit a little, but warmer, –43 … –48.

Talnah is the coldest district

The coldest district is Talnah, standing on a hill. There, the current minimum was –45.9 degrees. Experts say that the reason for this cold snap is the cyclone that has covered the city (or rather, its rear part), which brings cold from the North. In the coming days, the weather will not change much, it is expected to –40 … –45 degrees.

If we turn to long-term Internet forecasts, Gismeteo promises that it will gradually warm up – to –18 … –22 degrees by December 31. But the wind will increase and will not subside until the first days of January.
