More free land for tourism projects to appear in Arctic

July 20, 2023

New sites do not belong to the forest fund, and they are easier to develop.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. About two thousand hectares of free land under the Hectare program were opened by the government of Karelia. According to the Ministry for the Far East and the Arctic Development, among the available plots, you can choose land for housing construction, farming, tourism projects and entrepreneurial initiatives.

New sites are located in Segezha, Louhy, Kalevala, Kem, Belomorsk and Kostomuksha regions and do not belong to the forest fund.

“Such lands are easier to develop and, by the end of the gratuitous lease period, to get ownership free of charge”, said Yulia Tishchenko, the Far East and the Arctic Development Corporation’s Hektar program implementation department head.

Recall that since 2021, the Hectare program has spread to the Arctic territories in the Murmansk region, in the Nenets, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, in the Arkhangelsk region, Komi, Karelia republics and the Krasnoyarsk territory. Over the entire period of the Hektar program in the Arctic, 4 868 people received land.
