#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The preparations for the expedition to Taimyr and Yamal were discussed at a meeting of the council of indigenous peoples’ communities.
The members of the expedition will conduct monitoring of cultural heritage sites on both banks of the Yenisei in Taimyr. They are examining the territory from the port of Dikson to the eastern coast of Taimyr. Polar explorers will search for sacred sites of local fishermen and reindeer herding communities. The results will be included in a volume from the Russian Arctic islands and archipelagos series.
During the expedition, a memorial sign will be erected at the wintering site of Kolchak and Baron Eduard Toll.
Let us remind you that the first expedition to Norilsk was sent by the Kolchak government. They started talking about Kolchak as the discoverer of the northern lands at the end of the twentieth century and the question of his rehabilitation was considered. There were films and theatrical performances dedicated to the admiral. The media flooded publications about how Kolchak and Baron Toll were looking for Sannikov Land, about his participation in a scientific expedition to explore the Northern Sea Route on the Vaigach icebreaker.
At the end of last year, the Norilsk drama theater released the play Kolchak Polar.
