#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Thematic lessons will be held in schools of the Krasnoyarsk region and other Arctic territories (Yamalo-Nenets, Nenets and Chukotka autonomous districts, Arhangelsk region). They are designed for children of different ages: primary, middle and high school.
During the lessons, schoolchildren will learn why the polar bear is a valuable species and is protected not only in Russia but also in the world, how people can peacefully coexist with the animal in its habitat, how to avoid conflict and what rules tourists must follow when traveling to the Arctic.
“We understand that the development of the mineral resource base of the Arctic regions will be increasingly active in the coming years, and the capacity of the Northern Sea Route will increase significantly. This means that the number of encounters between humans and polar bears will increase, so this kind of educational work with residents of different ages within the framework of the project will be carried out on a systematic basis”, said Alexander Markov, coordinator of the Bear Patrol project from the Clean Arctic organization.
The Bear Patrol project was launched at the beginning of the year in all Arctic regions where polar bears live. It was initiated by the head of Rosprirodnadzor federal environment monitoring agency Svetlana Radionova. The initiative was supported by Russian president Vladimir Putin. The Clean Arctic organization is the project operator.
