#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Norilsk city planning council has approved an architectural project for the construction of a multidisciplinary innovative educational complex for 1100 children. The school will be named after the Soviet and Russian statesman, one of the Norilsk Mining and Metallurgical Combine directors Vladimir Dolgih.
An educational institution will be built on 50 Let Octyabrya street, opposite the Ayka sports and recreation complex.
The school will house 44 classrooms, 28 coworking spaces, several workshops and laboratories with modern equipment. The sports block will consist of a multifunctional hall with mobile partitions, a choreographic and gym room, a shooting range and a 25-meter swimming pool. An assembly hall, a library center, and recreation are also provided.
The School of High Latitudes city managers team is developing the strategy and concept of the new educational institution. It includes Norilsk educational institutions’ heads and teachers, the Polar State University representatives, the Norilsk Development Agency and IT-Cube specialists. Assistance in the school creation is provided by the best experts in the field of education development, including the RANEPA Social Sciences Institute’s School of Anthropology of the Future representatives and Russian innovative schools’ directors.
“The new educational center will use the best Russian and foreign practices for preparing children. Educational programs will be focused on the maximum disclosure of the children’s potential and the creative thinking development. The key approach is project activity. Children will unite with teachers to solve urgent problems of city development. It is important that the innovative educational complex will become a stimulus for the of the entire Norilsk educational system renewal”, emphasized Maxim Mironov, the Norilsk Development Agency director.
In addition to educational events, it is planned to hold career guidance, socio-cultural events for the city residents and guests. The school will house an acceleration center for educational practices. There will be creative and sports clubs for children and adults.
Construction work is expected to start next year. The Nornickel company will finance the construction.
Earlier, the Polar State University defended a project of an advanced engineering school jointly with Nornickel.
