#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Nornickel company became the general sponsor of the all-Russian competitive educational program – Indigenous Minorities of Russia. School of Public Diplomacy.
The program was launched by the MGIMO of the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Association of Indigenous Minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East.
The program’s goal is to develop the institution of public diplomacy in Russia to promote the legitimate interests of indigenous peoples at the national and international levels.
“The program of the Public Diplomacy School is designed to raise a generation of literate, intelligent people who know how to defend the interests of indigenous peoples, who are able to do this professionally, at a high level”, said Anatoly Torkunov, the MGIMO’s rector, the Russian Academy of Sciences academician.
The competition program includes three educational stages, based on the results of which three winners will be determined. The finalists will receive grants for MBA and master’s degree programs at the country’s leading universities, as well as a chance to implement their own project initiatives in the field of sustainable development of indigenous minorities.
Any member of the indigenous minority under the age of 45 will be able to participate in the program. To do this, you need to fill out an application on the school-kmn-rf.ru website and pass the entrance test. Acceptance of applications has started.
Nornickel is shaping new practices, creating new standards of interaction with indigenous peoples. The company is interested in improving the professional competencies of public leaders who express the interests of their ethnic groups.
Earlier, Nornickel allocated funds to the family and clan communities of Taimyr to purchase equipment. We also told that within the framework of the charitable programs World of Taimyr and World of New Opportunities, the company supported 43 social projects of Taimyr residents for almost 65 million rubles.
