Ice has broken in Dudinka

June 01, 2023

According to the Taimyr Civil Defense and Emergency department, on May 31, ice drift started in the Taimyr capital.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Ice drift, as a rule, is accompanied by a strong wind, which subsides along with the ice passage.

The air temperature in Dudinka was +8, the south wind was 5–7 meters per second, in the south of Taimyr there was a very strong south wind, gusts of 25 meters per second or more. A storm warning for strong winds has been issued in Dudinka and Norilsk.

Despite the weather, not only Dudinka residents, but also Norilsk people came to the banks of the Yenisey to enjoy the amazing spectacle.

Due to the water rise and the ice movement, it is important for residents and guests of Dudinka to exercise maximum caution when on the shore, not to leave children unattended, and also to refrain from leaving and entering water bodies.
