#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. According to the Taimyr administration Civil Defense and Emergency Situations department at 12:00 on May 25, the water level in the Yenisey river near the city of Dudinka reached 15 meters 94 centimeters. From 05:25 today, the ice movement began here, at present the ice drift is going on.
An increase in the water level by 108 centimeters per day was recorded near the village of Potapovo. Now there is 15 meters 37 centimeters and ice drift is also going on. The ice edge on the Yenisey is located on the Dudinka – Karaul section.
This Sunday, May 29, on the Dudinka embankment square, the ice drift holiday and the summer meeting will take place – the Dancing Ice festival, organized by the Taimyr Museum of Local Lore with the support of the Taimyr administration and the Arctic Center of Culture.
The main idea of the festival is a dance marathon. The event organizers invite Dudinka residents and guests to ‘melt the ice’ with their incendiary movements.
The official opening of the festival will take place at the main entrance to the museum building. Games and competitions, master classes, traditional treats and a concert program will take place.
Taimyr rescuers remind that it is forbidden to climb on the ice floes, and recommend caution when staying off the coast of the Yenisey.
