#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The modernization of the apron at Hatanga airport, a federal airport located in the North of Krasnoyarsk region, is scheduled for 2025-2026.
“The federal budget has fully allocated funds for this project. The upgrades will allow for a wider range of aircraft to land and an increase in the number of flights. This, in turn, will help boost tourism in the Arctic and facilitate the use of Hatanga airport for further exploration of the Taimyr region”, said Mikhail Kotyukov, the governor of Krasnoyarsk region, as reported by TASS.
Hatanga airport is one of the largest airports in the Arctic, providing passenger and cargo services to Krasnoyarsk, Norilsk, and Dixon, as well as conducting postal and passenger transport throughout Taimyr. The airport also handles transit flights from other regions of Russia.
“Once the renovations are complete, Hatanga will be able to accommodate aircraft with engines positioned closer to the ground. At present, this is not possible due to the structural design of the apron”, the regional governor’s press service explained.
