#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The amount of the most popular category of grant support for northerners, implemented within the state program Preservation and Development of the Traditional Way of Life and Economic Activity of Indigenous Peoples, has increased from 200 to 400 thousand rubles, the Northern Territories Development Agency reported.
Recall that the agency has been holding the regional grant competition annually since 2010. Over the past five years, 120 projects of the northern territories’ residents have been supported in the amount of almost 200 million rubles. Many initiatives of northerners have proven their effectiveness – workshops created with grant funds continue to function after the end of the project implementation period. The grant support in effect in the Krasnoyarsk region stimulates the northerners’ entrepreneurial initiatives emergence and contributes to the new jobs creation.
The most popular category of the competition is introducing children and adolescents to the native culture, language, national sports and traditional economic activities of small peoples. Every year, the winners implement up to ten different projects.
“The increase in the maximum amount of grant support for this category is due to a significant increase in the cost of services, equipment and materials necessary for the grant projects implementation. In addition, at meetings, northerners themselves have repeatedly expressed proposals on the need to increase the amount of grant support”, the agency head Anton Narchuganov explained.
We will add that at a meeting of the regional government, a decision was made to redistribute funds in the amount of 18.7 million rubles, which arose as a result of savings, between the activities of the above-mentioned state program. The funds will be directed to more popular areas, taking into account proposals from northern regions.
