#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Icelandic actor and athlete Hafthor Bjornsson, a multiple-time winner of the World’s Strongest Man title, has confirmed his participation in the Siberian Power Show in Krasnoyarsk, the event organizer Denis Kiyutsin announced.
The international strength sports festival will take place from April 18 to 20, 2025.
“The Icelander aims to break the world record for the deadlift, which currently stands at 501 kilograms”, Kiyutsin noted.
Bjornsson set the previous record in May 2020 when he lifted 501 kilograms in a deadlift while using a suit and straps.
Fans of Game of Thrones know Bjornsson for his role as Gregor The Mountain Clegane, as well as from his appearances in the films The Northman and Zone 261. He is 206 centimeters tall and weighs 200 kilograms.
“We are currently working on his visa and the necessary documents. If he doesn’t get injured at the strongman competition in Columbus (USA), he will definitely be here”, Kiyutsin explained.
He also mentioned that eight other international athletes – from the strongest people in the world – will join the competition in Krasnoyarsk, including Polish strongman Mateusz Kieliszkowski, the current world record holder for the maximum weight dumbbell press.
There will also be plenty of Russian competitors: Vasily Kamotsky, known as Pelmen, a star in slap competitions; athletes from Omsk – Dmitry Skosyrsky, Mikhail Shivlyakov, and Evgeny Markov; David Shamey from Belgorod; and Dmitry Voronetsky from Abakan.
Earlier, a resident of Norilsk marked the start of the hockey season last year with an unusual record. In honor of HC Norilsk’s second year in the VHL, Artem Mironov pulled a Mi-8 helicopter for ten meters.
